Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN)
Pay Rate: £12.90 – £14.25 per hour
Location: Aston
Hours: Part-time, Monday – Thursday, 8:45am – 3:00pm
Contract: Ongoing
Smart Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join an independent specialist provision in Aston. The college supports students aged 14–25 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), ADHD, and Down’s Syndrome.
This is a part-time opportunity to support students through 1:1 sessions and small group work in a setting that promotes both academic and vocational development.

Minimum Level 2 qualification in supporting teaching and learning
Minimum 12 months of SEN experience (5 years UK TA experience preferred)
Experience supporting students with complex needs including ASD, SLD, and ADHD
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
Experience delivering 1:1 and small group support
Valid enhanced DBS (Child and Adult Workforce) – on the update service or willing to apply
Passion for supporting vulnerable learners in a person-centred environment
Provide 1:1 and small group teaching support to SEN students aged 14–25
Assist in delivering functional and creative learning programmes
Work closely with teaching staff to adapt resources to individual needs
Promote positive engagement, independence, and confidence in students
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Record progress and feedback to the teaching team
Create a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment
